Our PV system sizes
PV systems can be designed to any size, but for an overview we have produced four system sizes.
1kWp
- Installed cost
- £5,750.00
- Electricity saving
- £128 a year
- FIT Earnings
- £192 a year
- VAT saving
- £821
- CO2 prevented
- 391kg a year
The 1kWp size system would take up about 7.5m2 and would produce in the region of 850 kilowatt hours (units) a year of clean electricity, which will prevent 391 kilograms of CO2 from being produced. It also prevents the other forms of air pollution which comes from power stations, such as high level nuclear waste, sulphur dioxide and NOx.
Electricity Saving
Your PV system will produce electricity, so you won't have to buy it from your supplier.
FIT Earnings
The Feed in Tariff is a government scheme for electricity generation. You'll be paid 21p for every unit the system produces whether you use the electricity or not! Plus you also get paid an extra 3p per unit for electricity you don't use.
VAT saving
With most types of installation you'd pay 20% VAT, but you save money with a PV Installation as you only pay 5% VAT.
2kWp
- Installed cost
- £8,000.00
- Electricity saving
- £255 a year
- FIT Earnings
- £383 a year
- VAT saving
- £1,143
- CO2 prevented
- 782kg a year
The 2kWp size system would take up about 15m2 and would produce in the region of 1700 kilowatt hours (units) a year of clean electricity, which will prevent 782 kilograms of CO2 from being produced. It also prevents the other forms of air pollution which comes from power stations, such as high level nuclear waste, sulphur dioxide and NOx.

- FIT Earnings
- £575 a year
- VAT saving
- £1,571
- CO2 prevented
- 1173kg a year
The 3kWp size system would take up about 22m2 and would produce in the region of 2550 kilowatt hours (units) a year of clean electricity, which will prevent 1564 kilograms of CO2 from being produced. It also prevents the other forms of air pollution which comes from power stations, such as high level nuclear waste, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

It also prevents the other forms of air pollution which comes from power stations, such as high level nuclear waste, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

FIT Earnings
The 4kW system will earn the most money with the Feed in Tariff, a government scheme for electricity generation. You'll be paid 21p for every unit the system produces whether you use the electricity or not! Plus you also get paid an extra 3p per unit for electricity you don't use.

System prices are based on an on-roof PV system mounted on a south facing concrete tile roof. Actual system costs will be based on a site survey. Roof covering, system size and layout can alter the price. From experience, well designed PV systems generate more electricity than the official PV generation figures. Poorly designed ones will generate less!
